My Grandma

My 87 yr old grandmother lives across the street from my house. She called me this afternoon and said that she bought a cheesecake and wanted to give the rest away so she would not eat it all and get sick. She walked across and met me at the mailbox to deliver it. I talked with her for about 20 min and my dad came and talked with her as well. After we said bye I walked back in the house and was cleaning up and doing laundry. The phone rings about 15 min later and I hear my dad say, ARE YOU SERIOUS!!!? I DID NOT SEE YOU, ARE YOU OK and I'M SORRY. I go and see whats going on and he informs me that that was my grandma on the phone. She asked my dad if he had looked at his office window in the last 15 min. He said he hadn't and she said while she was walking back across her yard she fell (she is 100% OK though, this is the only reason I can share this) and could not get back up. She had been laying in the yard that whole time. Some random guy DRIVING THROUGH THE NEIGHBORHOOD stopped and asked her if she needed help and he helped her up and got her in the house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! What's really bad is that my mom was on the way home and I am SO THANKFUL she did not drive by and see her mom laying in the grass, my mom would have crashed the car. So lesson from this is that now we look out the window every so often to make sure grandma is not laying the grass. For those who don't know my grandma she is like "Ouiser" from Steel Magnolias. She is not an elderly person dependent on care from other people. She still lives alone and besides this incident she is pretty self-sufficient.

I'm so sorry she fell, but I had to laugh reading about it.....she sounds just like my mama. And yes, I can see your mom crashing the car if she saw her!

My mom fell in her bathroom and has a lifeline, but wouldn't push it....just laid there until someone came!
