Miracle Dog

I had quite an experience today. While going to the local dog park with my dog Trooper, my sister and her dogs, my dog jumped out of the car while I was driving 45 mph. My dog goes for car rides all the time ever since he was eight weeks old. Most of the time I have the windows all the way down as he loves to put his head out the window (today it was not all the way down though). I honestly wonder if he fell out because I don't see him jumping out. Anyway I am driving and one second he is there and then I look behind me and he is out the window, he hits the ground and starts rolling. I screamed, slammed on breaks and get my car off the road. Its amazing I did not get in a wreck because I did not even look I just slammed the car to a stop! My sister and I then jumped out of the car and ran screaming towards him shouting his name. I was hysterically screaming, because I honestly thought he was dead. BUT He got up and jogged over to us. I then thought he was going to get hit by a car right in front of me since we were on the highway, but he made it to us! He had a little blood of his nose which my sister wiped it off and it did not bleed anymore. We loaded him in the car and got off the main highway. We got to the dog park and my sister felt all around him and did not feel any bones broken or anything out of place. I called the emergency vet line and told my vet what happened. The vet was AMAZED that his jaw was not broken, bones were not broken and he was not more roughed up. The vet told me to give him one aspirin tonight and tomorrow and understand that he will be sore and to bring him in if he does not eat or act like his normal self. The vet called him a miracle dog and said that if that had been us we would be in an ambulance going to the hospital.

I am not able to sleep because I am constantly horrified of the image of him rolling down the highway out of my head and I am still worried about him but ya'll HE IS FINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He is definitely sore, but acting normal. I am so amazed he is alive and not in surgery or in a cast right now.

I always knew he was special but he is a miracle dog. I am so thankful he is ok!!
