I went to a criminal court hearing today. It was such an emotional court hearing but a good one.
In my previous job I worked with kids that had been abused. I still get to work with kids in my new job and help them just in another way.
I went to this court hearing specifically because it was a sentencing hearing for a man who was found guilty last month of a very offensive charge. Today he was sentenced to LIFE in prison. I sat with another caseworker who like me had involvement due to our job. We sat with men from the sheriffs office and some of the victims. It was very emotional to see the relief on the victims faces, the satisfaction from the detectives who worked so hard, the state attorney who did a great job with the trial and for myself with the other caseworker feeling good that another one is off the streets for good!
It was hard being in the same room with such a monster but I am so thankful for wise Judges who make good decisions!
We had no idea what was going on in our little city while we were in the court hearing and celebrating outside! I will post about that next.
